The Collective’s analysis

The authorities’ commitment to adapted physical activity is a real step forward in the management of respiratory diseases. However, it is necessary to go further to address all issues of these diseases. In addition to the organizational innovations that are absolutely required to develop our health care system, the health journeys of patients with these diseases need to be clarified to preserve the breathing capital of the population from an early age. Considering the large portion of the population affected by chronic respiratory diseases, nearly 10 million people of all ages, it is crucial that policy makers address the issues of health journeys and the availability of structures facilitating access to health for all patients with these diseases.

Our priorities for 2023

Continue and complete the implementation of prescription coverage for adapted physical activity for all respiratory diseases and review the practice model while involving professionals in the field of physical and sporting activities.

Continue to update relevant HAS recommendations adapted to the practice for all respiratory diseases and systematize the evaluation of priority indicators for the most common chronic respiratory diseases.

Strengthen the access to proximity respiratory rehabilitation by developing the practice in outpatient settings though increased supply of health care, or at the patient’s home, including through telerehabilitation.
